AIA Penyala Harapan Scholarship Fund Reaches RM4.8 Million, Benefiting 60 Students

The AIA Penyala Harapan Scholarship Programme has reached a significant milestone with a total commitment of RM4.8 million from AIA PUBLIC Takaful Berhad, benefiting 60 students from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Malaya (UM).

The latest development marks the continued expansion of the scholarship programme, which was established to provide financial assistance and educational opportunities to deserving students. The programme initially supported 20 students from IIUM and has since expanded to include a second cohort at IIUM as well as the first cohort at UM.

Through the additional funding, a further 40 students will benefit from the programme, with 20 students from the second IIUM cohort and another 20 students from the first UM cohort.

At IIUM, the scholarship is offered to first-year students pursuing selected programmes in Islamic Banking, Islamic Finance and Law. The scholarship covers tuition fees and living expenses for up to four years, while also providing recipients with mentoring, industry exposure and career-readiness opportunities.

The programme also provides eligible recipients with opportunities for industrial training with AIA PUBLIC Takaful, subject to the academic and programme requirements.

The expansion of the AIA Penyala Harapan Scholarship Programme reflects the continued commitment of AIA PUBLIC Takaful and its university partners towards supporting students in pursuing higher education and developing their potential.

The scholarship programme is funded through surplus takaful contributions donated by AIA PUBLIC Takaful certificate holders to the AIA Penyala Harapan Charity Fund.

The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), through the relevant university units and stakeholders, remains committed to supporting initiatives that provide meaningful educational opportunities and contribute towards the development of future generations.

The milestone was announced during the AIA Penyala Harapan Scholarship presentation ceremony, which also celebrated the first cohort of 20 IIUM scholarship recipients.

Official Handover Ceremony of Two Dialysis Machines and RO Water System by EXIM Bank

The handover ceremony of a RM188,000 contribution from EXIM Bank Malaysia to the IIUM Dialysis Centre, through the IIUM Endowment Fund initiative, marked the official delivery of two dialysis machines and one Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water System.
 
This contribution will enhance the centre’s capacity to provide quality dialysis treatment and generate a scholarship program for needy students through the profits of the dialysis centre. It reflects EXIM Bank’s commitment to creating a positive social impact through strategic community and healthcare initiatives.

IIUM Partners in the Establishment of WUNPROQ Consortium for Islamic Social Finance

The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was honoured to participate in the inauguration of the World University Network for Productive Waqf (WUNPROQ), hosted by IPB University in Bogor, Indonesia, from 4–5 June 2026.
 
Representing IIUM, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Mohamed Aslam Mohamed Haneef delivered a keynote presentation during the talk show “The Role of Higher Education in Productive Waqf Development.”  He highlighted the IIUM Endowment Fund and its “Ecosystem of Impact” model, showcasing how endowment can drive sustainable education, research, and community development.
Joining the delegation, Prof. Dr. Romzie Rosman, Dean of the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), reinforced IIUM’s leadership and expertise in Islamic Social Finance.
The visit also marked a significant step in strengthening international collaboration, with IIUM signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with IPB University and participating in a community engagement programme through a coffee-tree planting initiative.

SESI PENGUKUHAN UKHUWAH WARGA KERJA IIUM HOLDINGS 2026

Alhamdulillah, pada Jumaat, 24 April 2026 yang lalu, telah berlangsung Majlis Meraikan Dhuyufurrahman 1447H Kumpulan Syarikat IIUM Holdings bertempat di The Royale Banquet Hall, Pusat Kebudayaan UIAM. Majlis ini diadakan bagi meraikan bakal jemaah haji dari kalangan warga kerja serta memperkukuh ukhuwah melalui sesi potluck komuniti.
 
Antara pengisian utama majlis termasuk:
