- The Safety Permit for IIUM Event (SPIE) serves the critical purpose of safeguarding programmes or events that engage in HIGH RISK activities or pose potential hazards. (Example: List of High-risk activities)
- It achieves this by offering essential mitigation support through the IIUM Occupational Safety, Health & Built Environment (OSHBE) Department.
- Ensuring participant safety and adhering to regulations are paramount within these guidelines.
- Any individual, department, or organisation planning to organise a programme/event at IIUM that involves high risk activities must apply for the SPIE. This includes internal entities within IIUM, such as academic departments, student organisations, or administrative units, as well as external organisations or third party event organisers.
SPIE application is submitted at least 14 days before the programme/event is scheduled to commence.
**Please note that the approval of the SPIE is subject to the submission of complete required documents.
The SPIE should be submitted by Officer or Programme manager
Process allows for the identification of potential risks and the implementation of necessary safety measures to mitigate those risks, also ensuring a safe environment for all involved in the programme/event.
The programme/event organisers demonstrate their commitment to safety and acknowledge their responsibility to adhere to the required safety regulations, guidelines, and standards set by the OSHBE Department at IIUM.
i) Copy of programme proposal:
Details of event, tentative, details of activities, time(s), location(s), Organising Committee, Safety plan, Emergency contact number, etc.
ii) Copy of certificate for competencies i.e. First Aider, Life Saver and others (if applicable)
iii) Copy of insurance coverage policy for NON-Staff or Students
iv) Copy of Appendix I: Indemnity letter. Each participant is REQUIRED to fill in the form
**Remember, the timely submission of the SPIE application and the provision of complete and accurate information, along with the required documents, are crucial for a smooth and efficient approval process.
i) Ensure that the application is completed by the OFFICER/PROGRAMME MANAGER, who is responsible for overseeing the programme/event.
ii) The completed application should be checked by the PROGRAMME ADVISOR or OFFICER IN CHARGE, who will review the information provided and verify that all necessary documents are attached.
iii) The application should then be recommended by the DEAN / DEPUTY DEAN STUDENT AFFAIR / DIRECTOR / HOD / PRINCIPAL, who holds the authority to endorse the programme/event and confirm its compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
