The mini exhibition, titled “The Illuminated Blueprint: Six Scholars of the Islamic Golden Age Who Engineered the Modern World,” is being held from 10 September to 10 October 2026 at Exhibition Area No. 3, Level 2, M. Kamal Hassan Library, IIUM. The exhibition is organised by the Learning Support Section.

The exhibition celebrates the remarkable legacy and intellectual contributions of six distinguished scholars of the Islamic Golden Age: Abu Nasr al-Farabi (259–339 AH), al-Sharif al-Idrisi (493–560 AH), Ismail al-Jazari (531–603 AH), Abu al-Wafa’ al-Buzjani (328–388 AH), Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi‘i (150–204 AH), and al-Zahrawi (936–1013 CE).

Through their pioneering contributions to science, philosophy, geography, engineering, mathematics, Islamic jurisprudence, and medicine, these scholars advanced knowledge in ways that have continued to influence intellectual and scientific development across generations. Their groundbreaking ideas, discoveries, and works formed important foundations for many aspects of the modern world.

The exhibition aims to highlight their enduring legacy and inspire visitors to appreciate the rich intellectual heritage of the Islamic Golden Age, while recognising the significant role of Muslim scholars in shaping the development of knowledge and innovation.
